Our Story
The Story of Manhattan Hematology
Oncology Associates - Alec Goldenberg, M.D.
From the beginning of MHOA, our philosophy has been to translate the most current scientific understanding of the underlying biology of cancers into the most effective and compassionate cancer treatment for our patients.
When we first started MHOA in the Spring of 2000, it was a very small space. In fact, the oncology nurse and staff had just one small exam room. The original goal was to bring the knowledge base and physician networks of bigger institutions together with the stronger patient-physician bond possible in a more intimate setting.
In the past thirteen years, MHOA has evolved into a small oasis in the the midst of a big city, where our physicians and support staff provide comprehensive cancer care in a serene setting that helps patients feel calm, comfortable, and valued. Our treatment center provides a state of the art infusional therapy area, a bone marrow suite, and a phlebotomy lab, all staffed by caring and experienced nurses. In order to best protect and treat patients, the office has a very advanced HIPPA compliant computer network that provides our patients with electronic scheduling and a complete electronic medical record for instant communication with expert physicians at other facilities.
True to the original goal of balancing current scientific collaboration and research with compassionate care, MHOA continues to give our patients the best possible personalized cancer treatments.
